Short Question
(a)  Heat energy is released in burning. When the burning French fries is place below the
boiling tube, water in the boiling tube absorbs heat, causing the rise in temperature of
      the water.
(b)  Jason should compare the increase in water temperature per gram of French fries
used. The greater the increase in water temperature per gram of snack used, the
higher the energy content of French fries.
(c)  Jason should weight the piece of French fries before heating it on a Bunsen burner.

(d) (i)    Extensive clearance of forest decreases the absorption of carbon dioxide in the
              atmosphere.
(ii)   Extensive burning of fuels increases the amount of carbon dioxide released to
              the atmosphere.
(iii)  These human activities increase amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
This leads to an excessive greenhouse effect and hence global warming.
(iv)  There may be more cases of extreme weather conditions.
