i Fill in the blanks:
1 We
have different senses such as sight, hearing, smell, taste and
touch.
2 Changes in the environment are called stimuli. Living things
can detect and respond to them.
3 By responding to stimuli,
living things can find food, shelters, mates and escape from
danger.
4 We have different sense organs like eye, ear,
tongue, nose and skin. They contain special
kinds of cells called receptors which are
sensitive to particular kinds of stimuli.
5 When the receptors detect stimuli, they
send signals to our brain through nerves,
which are then interpreted to give us
senses.
i Matching:
Stimuli
|
•
|
are the changes
in the environment which can be detected.
|
Senses
|
•
|
let living
things know what the environment changes and so are important for living to
survive.
|
Sense organs
|
•
|
are organs for
detecting stimuli.
|
Receptors
|
•
|
are the special
kinds of cells in receptors which are sensitive to stimuli.
|
Nerves
|
•
|
send signals
from receptors to the brain.
|
Brain
|
•
|
interprets the
signals from sense organs and gives senses.

4. Appropriate responses to stimuli are important to the survival of
animals. True / False

5. Our sense organs are responsible for producing senses. True / False

senses / Our sense organs are responsible for detecting stimuli.
